3216A 3224A Altec Specifications


The mixing console shall be a 16 (24) channel unit. Microphone and line inputs shall be active differentially balanced for each input channel. Each input channel shall exhibit a female XLR connector for the microphone input, a'/4-inch phone jack for the line level input, and a'/a-inch phone jack for the insert point. Each input shall have 48 volt phantom power with an indicating LED for condenser microphones. Each input channel shall have a continuously variable gain control. Each shall have high, sweepable mid and low frequency equalization controls. The high frequency equalizer circuit shall be the shelving type with its f_3 at 10 kHz. The mid frequency equalizer circuit shall be the peaking type with a separate control to sweep its center frequency from 300 Hz to 5 kHz. The low equalizer circuit shall be the shelving type with its f.3 at 100 Hz. Each equalizer control shall have a± 15 dB range. There shall be three auxiliary sends on each input channel. One shall be fixed preEQ/fader, one fixed post-fader, and the other switchable between pre- and post-fader. Each channel shall have a pan control that sends the post fader signal to the left and right subgroup buses. A PFL (pre-fader listen) switch and peak level indicator shall also be included on each input channel. The unit shall have 100 mm faders.
The console shall have left and right subgroups with servo-balancedoutputs via male XLR connectors. Each subgroup shall exhibit a'/a-inch phone jack for an insert point. Left and right tape record sends and returns shall provide tape deck or CD player interface through RCA jacks. The main and monitor outputs shall be servo-balanced via male XLR connectors. The main output shall be the sum of the left and right subgroup outputs. The monitor output shall be the sum of all the input channel monitor sends and any external monitor input signal through the monitor bus input'/4-inch phone jack. Each male XLR output shall have turn on/off transient suppression. Two auxiliary outputs shall be the sum of all of the corresponding input channel auxiliary sends plus any external auxiliary input signals through the aux.`liary bus input '/4-inch phone jacks. Auxiliary returns via '/a-inch phone jacks shall feed the left and right subgroup buses through level and pan controls. A monitor send control from each return shall provide
the monitor mix with the corresponding returned signal.
The console shall have two VU meters showing left, right, main, monitor, and PFL bus levels. A meter switch shall select the bus being monitored. A headphone amplifier with level control shall provide monitoring of the left and right subgroup buses through a'/a-inch phone jack. When any PFL switch is depressed, the PFL LED illuminates and the headphones and a VU meter shall monitor the PFL bus. A power switch with a "power on" LED shall be provided. A BNC connector shall provide power for one high intensity lamp. An IEC connector shall provide power through a detachable power cord to the universal power supply. A 115/230 voltage select switch shall provide compatibility with any line voltage.
The console shall meet or exceed the following performance criteria: Frequency response: 20 Hz - 20 kHz, ± 1 dB, EQ flat, and all faders nominal. THD: <0.0596 with 4 dBu output, 20 Hz-20 kHz and <0.1096 with +24 dBu output, 20 Hz-20 kHz. EIN: -128 dBu (22 Hz-22 kHz) with microphone inputs 150-ohm termination. S/N: 79 dB with masters nominal and inputs off. Crosstalk: -65 dB typical for adjacent inputs to outputs at I kHz and -40 dB minimum for all combinations at 20 Hz-20 kHz. Maximum voltage gain (±3 dB): Mic In to Main Out: 86 dB; Mic In to Sub and Mon Out: 75 dB; Line In to Main Out: 60 dB; ~ Line in to Sub and Mon Out: 50 dB. Microphone input CMRR: >75 dB typical; 55 dB minimum. Microphone input impedance at I kHz: 4400- ohms. Line input impedance: 60-kohms. Servo-balanced output impedance: 75-ohms. Unbalanced output impedance: 100-ohms. Headphone power output: 20 mW into 8-ohms with a frequency response from 50 Hz-15 kHz at ±2 dB. Lamp connector power: 12 Vac, 375 mA maximum. Phantom power: 48 Vdc at pin 2 and 3 on mic connector with 6.8-kohm source impedance. Power requirements: 115 or 230 Vac 50/60 Hz at 40 watts.
The mixing console shall be the ALTEC LANSING model 3216A (3224A).
